Now let's go through the mirror images of the Middle Eastern scale degrees! As the notes of the Middle Eastern scale are the same as the notes of the harmonic minor scale (the only difference being the starting notes of each degree), don't expect anything new:

  • harmonic minor, fifth degree = Middle Eastern Phrygian, first degree

  • harmonic minor, sixth degree = Middle Eastern Phrygian, second degree

  • harmonic minor, seventh degree = Middle Eastern Phrygian, third degree

  • harmonic minor, first degree = Middle Eastern Phrygian, fourth degree

  • harmonic minor, second degree = Middle Eastern Phrygian, fifth degree

  • harmonic minor, third degree = Middle Eastern Phrygian, sixth degree

  • harmonic minor, fourth degree = Middle Eastern Phrygian, seventh degree

Abbreviated:

  • HM. 5. = MEP. 1.

  • HM. 6. = MEP. 2.

  • HM. 7. = MEP. 3.

  • HM. 1. = MEP. 4.

  • HM. 2. = MEP. 5.

  • HM. 3. = MEP. 6.

  • HM. 4. = MEP. 7.
