Here are the pentatonic scale degrees for a guitar in all fourth tuning, i.e. where the interval between each string is a perfect fourth.

E - A - D - G - C - F

If this tuning had become the standard guitar tuning, as opposed to the E-A-D-G-B-E tuning that’s now called standard, the different scale structures and patterns would be much simple to learn, thanks to the elimination of the high third interval between the third and second strings. This tuning has now become more popular and recognized, partially owing to the growing popularity of the five-string bass guitars, which have this tuning as default tuning. The all fourth tuning stayed out of my focus for a while, which led to taking the standard tuning as a basis in my methodology. One cannot start learning the all fourth tuning until they are fully familiar the standard; or there is a right time for everything, if you like.

However, this does not necessarily mean that standard tuning is the optimal tuning for guitar; you should not always take for granted what they you about the guitar. Always look for the real optimality!

Standard tuning gives you more simplicity when playing the pentatonic scales compared to the all fourth tuning, as the first degree’s notes that you play with your first finger are always below each other, i.e. on one line:

Here’s what it looks like in all fourth tuning:

As you can see here, the scale structure has an S like shape, because of the interval between G and B strings.

Consequently, standard tuning is better when it comes to playing pentatonic scales. On the other hand, the structures of the basic scales, which are of higher importance than the pentatonics, are much more coherent in all fourth tuning.
